In the frame of LIFE DINALP BEAR project we radio-collared 2 bears in Slovenia in the last four weeks. They were both males, one 3 years old, the second 6 years old. Both captures proceeded as planned and we are already tracking their movements with the help of the data on their locations, sent by a collar satellite connection. The collar of the older bear has additionally installed a video-camera, thus we will receive also a video footage from the bear’s everyday life. In case of approaching to human settlements, we will carry out field inspections to discover what attracted these bears to the vicinity of settlements. In this way we will be able to evaluate the effectiveness of installed protective measures, which aim to decrease human-bear conflicts and increase tolerance for co-existing.
