LIFE is the European Commission’s financial instrument supporting environmental, nature conservation and climate action projects throughout Europe. Since 1992, LIFE has co-financed some 4171 projects, contributing approximately 3,4 billion € to the protection of the environment and climate.
The programme is divided into two main themes:
including three different areas:
The project Population level management and conservation of brown bears in northern Dinaric Mountains and the Alps – LIFE DINALP BEAR – falls under the area LIFE+ Nature and Biodiversity. LIFE+ Nature and Biodiversity is one of the main strands of the European Union’s funding programme for the environment. It supports projects that contribute to the implementation of the EU’s Birds and Habitats Directives, the Natura 2000 network and that contribute to the EU’s goal of halting the loss of biodiversity.
