LIFE DINALP BEAR project team reacted on local inhabitants’ request for information, as they were being faced with a garbage mess on Vojsko plateau in west Slovenia. The garbage cans, distantly located near the forest edge, attracted nocturnal bear visits in autumn. The inhabitants had to clean the mess afterwards, so they were not pleased with the situation. The project team that set the photo-cameras near these garbage cans, documented another two nocturnal visits of the bear, which did not return to this location after the end of October anymore. In case that the bear visits these garbage cans again, we wish to find common solutions with the local entities, as effective damage prevention measures can deter bear from returning to the food sources.
