Members of the project team discussed the management of the bear population in Slovenia and the biology of the brown bear with the hosts on the TV show MORNING ON THE PLANET.

How to react properly when encountering a bear in nature? What do we learn from the data from bears fitted with a telemetry collar for tracking their movements? How do we “count” bears or estimate their numbers? Hint: what are genetic methods for tracking bears for?

They also clarified some doubts about the management measure of culling bears, as it is important to conserve the bear population in the long-term and to maintain tolerance towards coexistence between human and brown bear.
