Members of LIFE DINALP BEAR project, WISO platform, and Slovenian Ministry of Environment and Space have met in a picturesque valley of Kolpa river in south Slovenia to discuss the final draft of Guidelines for Common Management of Brown Bear in the Alpine and Northern Dinaric Region.

As a starting point, we presented some chapters that haven’t been discussed on previous meetings, and then we discussed in quite detail all the comments given on the modified version of the draft document, thus finalising the chapters.

We are quite proud on the emerging document, as it will exceed our expectations we started with, by comprising more countries than only four project-member countries. We are glad that brown bear conservation issues are a topic, where many organisations can productively share their respective knowledge and experience, in order to produce a document that will enable a shift in a bear management paradigm from national bear management to the management at the level of the population.
