23rd International Conference on Bear Research and Management  was held in Thessaloniki, Greece this year. The theme of the conference was “Bears and humans in the 21st century: challenges and solutions for a peaceful coexistence”. With this theme it was aimed to draw attention to the major challenges for bear conservation around the world.

Our project members presented the project and first of its results in three contributions – one poster with general introduction to our project and three oral presentations – one about challenges of conservation of the brown bear at a population level, one on monitoring of effective population size in a hunted population of brown bears and one on early gonadal activity in Croatian brown bears and implications for management.
