Setting the Culvert trap for the first time in the field in Slovenia, an old female bear has been captured near a village last week. She was sedated and measured. We took genetic samples and fitted her with GPS radio-collar. By receiving GPS-locations from her collar we will be able to track her movements. By analysing these data, we expect to obtain additional knowledge about why bears enter human settlements, which additional prevention measures could be undertaken and what is the most acceptable method for decreasing human-bear conflicts.
