On June 4th, Slovenian Ministry for the environment and spatial planning organized a workshop for damage inspectors and agricultural advisors. The main topic of the workshop were protection measures against damage caused by large carnivores and it was held in the Škocjan Caves Park, Slovenia. Speakers from several institutions (Slovenian Environment Agency, Chamber of Agriculture and Forestry of Slovenia, Slovenia Forest Service, Biotechnical faculty – University in Ljubljana) presented effective protection measures and possibilities for cofunding those measures. A good practice example of protection of livestock with guarding dogs was presented (Sedmak family farm). Rok Černe and Tomaž Berce (both SFS) also presented LIFE DINALP BEAR project with an emphasis on the measures for protection against bear damage planned within the project. Around 10 agricultural advisors and 40 damage inspectors attended the workshop.
