Between April 12 and 15, members of our project team from Slovenia Forest Service visited the Spanish part of the Pyrenees which is also the area of Catalunya project PirosLIFE. The main objective of the project is to ensure long-term conservation of the brown bear population in the Pyrenees. The two projects, PirosLIFE and our project LIFE DINAL BEAR, have a lot in common. On both sides, the objectives are to reduce bear damages on livestock and beehives and to improve the tolerance of people toward bears.

Agreed networking between LIFE projects will allow the exchange of experience and knowledge from both project areas. A better understanding of the population management and experiences from both countries make it easier to find solutions for a long-term coexistence with brown bears. On the occasion, a translocation of one adult male bear from Slovenia to Pyrenees has also been agreed.
