In Autonomous Province of Trento, Italy, Forest and Fauna Service team has captured a young male bear, weighing 129 kilograms, in Rendena valley. Possibly, this individual might be responsible for predation of cows during the summer. That’s why we took a hair sample for genetic analysis; the result of analysis, compared with the organic samples collected on the predated cows, will confirm or deny the assumption.

The male bear was captured with the help of tube (Culvert) trap and will be closely monitored by means of GPS locations, provided by the instruments on bear’s radio-collar. Acquired knowledge will help us to adjust effective prevention measures, in order to contribute to public acceptance of brown bear in this area.
