We met with representatives of the Public Agency of the Republic of Slovenia for Railway Transport in early October. At the meeting we presented the aims and objectives of the project LIFE DINALP BEAR and, in particular, activities to reduce the bear mortality including railways. At the same time we discuss the problem of traffic related bear mortality on railway due to bulk goods, which can cause retention of bears and wild boars on railway lines. We agreed that in autumn 2016 an expanded meeting or workshop for the employees of Slovenia Railways will be organized. The main focus on the meeting will be: discussing and analysing the problems related to traffic related bear mortality and other species of wildlife on railways lines and presenting the possibilities of solving this problem.
