This Thursday, Maj 25th, Museum of Natural History Slovenia hosted the award ceramony of the FINDING BEARINGS photo contest taking place earlier this year. The contest was about brown bear conservation and human-bear coexistence. “Life with bears” exhibition will be in place by end of August, showcasing 34 works taken by photographers from all over Europe.

Award winners are:

1st prize: Lukasz Fjalkowski (Poland) – Scarface

2nd prize: Marjan Artnak (Slovenia) – Rapsody in green

3rd prize: Marko Matešić (Croatia) – Three stooges.

The winner of the public voting award is “He’s got the look” by Aleš Arh (Slovenia).

The exhibition is showing images, taken by: Aleš Arh (SLO), Berde Gyorgis Lajos (ROM), Boris Mrdalj (CRO), Božo Bradaškja (SLO), Christine Sonvilla (AUT), Dario Quattrin (ITA), Jan Hlačer (SLO), Janez Papež (SLO), Janez Tarman (SLO), Lukasz Fijalkowski (POL), Marc Graf (AUT), Marjan Artnak (SLO), Marjan Cigoj (SLO), Marko Matešić (CRO), Matej Kovačič (SLO), Miha Krofel (SLO), Miran Krapež (SLO), Renato Pontarini (ITA), Rok Mikuletič (SLO) in Tine Strosar (SLO).

All selected authors received project’s fleece jackets and hats. Winners of the contest were awarded with packages of “bear friendly” products. The 1st award winner will take part in the “Discover Dinarics” excursion in September.

Visitors of the event had a taste in some of the products, awarded with “Bear friendly” certificate, eg. honey, mead, blueberry and raspberry liquer, apple juice, gingerbread cookies, marmelade and goat chease.

After August, the exhibition will also be available in Austria and Croatia.
