In April, we completed the installation of acoustic deterrents into the roadside traffic pillars on the regional road Ljubljana – Kočevje. The devices were installed in four road sections, namely in the vicinity of Nove Lozine, Gornje Lozine, Ortnek and Turjak, on a total length more than 7 km.

Acoustic deterrents operate only during the time when the vehicle is approaching the section. The bear or another animal, which is at that time on the road, is warned of impending danger, and has more time available to flee from danger. With this activity we reached another goal of the action C.4 – Decrease of traffic-caused bear mortality and again carried out another measure to improve road safety and to reduce the mortality of bears on the most problematic sections of Slovenian traffic routes.
