Two nights ago a young, subadult male bear entered a tube trap in the area of Lasino, Trentino (IT), set in the field by the LIFE DINALP BEAR project team and Corpo Forestale Provinciale personnel. The bear was narcotised to enable the capture team to measure it, take all the necessary samples and to fit it a GPS radio-collar. After wakening up, the bear walked away and it will be monitored intensively in the next few days. A GPS technology in his collar will permit the project team to follow its movements closely and assess its behaviour in details. Gathered data on its movements will give us additional valuable insights into implementing the best available solutions for successful human-bear co-existence.
