Between September 21 and 24 workshops for the bear intervention groups (BIG) took place in Lika area, Croatia. In total more than 60 participants from different countries attended the meeting. Majority of the participants were from Croatia (Ministry for the environment and nature conservation, FVM, ARZ, Croatian IT members, damage inspectors, etc.). Besides the participants from Croatia, also the IT members and LIFE DINALP BEAR team members from Austria (RVEN), Italy (PLI and PAT) and Slovenia (SFS) attended the meeting. Participants worked on the “Bear intervention group protocol” and also took several lessons about the damage compensation schemes, large carnivore management plans, signs of large carnivore depredation, zoonoses etc. Also practical workshops were organized.
