Last week Silvia Dalmasso, veterinary in charge by Provincia Autonoma di Trento for check the guardian dogs has visited the twelve maremma sheepdog used in Trentino to defend livestock to bear attack as expected by Action C.2 of LIFE Dinalp Bear Project. Two of these dogs were born in Trentino at the end of 2015 and now started the work on the alp. During the visits Silva checks the dogs behaviour and health. A good guardian dog never leaves the livestock, defends livestock to bear attack and it is not agressive with people. In some area the work of dogs is useful to defend the livestok also to wolf attacks.
