Reduction of brown bear-vehicle collisions on highways is an important activity in our project action “Decrease of traffic-caused bear mortality”. In Slovenia, two to three bears are killed in vehicle collisions on highways each year. The highest bear mortality on highways were detected on (i) Primorska highway between Logatec and Postojna; between Divača and Kozina and on (ii) Dolenjska highway between Grosuplje and Ivančna Gorica. Therefore, in autumn 2017 electric fence was installed in cooperation with DARS – Slovenian Motorway Company on the already existing protecting highway fence between Logatec and Ravbarkomanda to reduce vehicle collisions with brown bear and other wildlife on Primorska highway.
