Last week our project team participated in the Upper Carniola scout jamboree (GootJam), which is currently taking place near Bled, Slovenia. Interactive educational workshops about the brown bear biology, how to behave in bear areas and the LIFE DINALP BEAR project activities were carried our using foot prints, sculls, fur models and equipment used in brown bear research. We also played a special game designed to teach children how animals “see” the world through their powerful sense of smell.

Almost 100 scouts took part in the workshops. Because of their active lifestyle and amount of time spent in nature, they are an important target group of our project. This years jamboree is one of the biggest scout events in Slovenia. It it brings together about 600 people from all across Slovenia and abroad.
